Our first annual Colorado Climate Services Summit was a success! Held on August 8-9, 2023
at the CSU Spur campus in Denver, we brought over 50 individuals together to talk about
climate services at the local, state, regional, and national scales.
Some key outcomes from the meeting:
- Widespread interest and emphasis on local impacts and information
- There is so much information available to users, it can be difficult for them to
decide what they should be using and how
- New connections were made, and people discovered new tools and resources
- These meetings should be happening consistently.
Based on poll responses at the end of the summit, the following themes were identified
as areas to focus on at the next summit:
- More information on vulnerable communities with greater representation at the meeting
- Taking the next step from provision of information to true "Decision Support"
- More hands-on interactive activities, with demonstrations similar to the Tools Cafe
- New locations - we can broaden representation in our meeting by holding it in other parts of the state
