Climate Normals Maps and Graphs

Browse through the maps and graphs to see how temperature and precipitation normals vary by geographic location and by month. You'll notice that the mountains play a key role in defining different climate patterns for both temperature and precipitation.

The climate normals maps are generated using high resolution gridded data from PRISM. PRISM normals cover the period 1981 - 2010 and are derived from a digital elevation model and station observations that include NWS COOP, CoCoRaHS, and SNOTEL measurements.

Station climate normals graphs are generated for long-term National Weather Service COOP stations. COOP normals cover the period 1981 - 2010 and are provided by ACIS. Normals are calculated by NOAA's NCEI every ten years.

Station History Data

Only long-term stations that are currently reporting are included.
Station histories include annual and monthly averages, and annual and monthly records, for temperature and precipitation.

Averages are calculated using the station's entire period of record, so they will likely differ from the monthly normals displayed in the Maps and Graphs.
